My husband is drinking until 4am and it’s driving me insane. We been married less than 1 year. We just recently bought a house and it so happens to be in the same neighborhood as his best friend. Not long after we moved in, my husband began going over to his place and would drink with him until 4am. I would beg him to please come home and he would refuse. After the first time it happened, he was apologetic and said it was too late to be out drinking. Well you can guess what happened next. It happened again.
It has happened multiple times now, where my husband will stay at his friends house until sunrise, drinking, playing video games, cards, and whatever. He will stumble home, throw up, and then sleep the entire next day. He tells me its ridiculous of me to be upset about him “just being out late” or that “it’s okay to drink” or “why won’t you let me have fun with my friends?” But to me, drinking until 4 am each weekend is not normal behavior. Especially at this age, and when you claim you’re ready for children.
I’ve tried to compromise on him coming home by 2 am, but that doesn’t work either. I’m really at a loss here and feel like moving into this neighborhood was a giant mistake. Can anyone please give insight on how to handle this?
