Engine oil test with Total Quartz 9000 Energy 5W40

What does the test show?
The friction test is to show the resistance of the oil film to tearing (oil film strength).
Metal parts in the engine during operation (friction, e.g. pistons) can lead to scratches and nicks. The better the oil quality, the better it should protect the engine from scratches.

How does the test work?
A new sample is subjected to metal-on-metal friction under a 1kg load for 5 minutes. The diameter of the specimen is then measured at its lowest point. Each new sample has a diameter of 2.92. The lower the result, the better.
