Game design is UX design in the sense that games are experiences.
As a game designer, you set up the conditions for a playful experience to emerge, for players to experience some kind of fun.
Because games are a specific type of experience, which has been part of human societies since prehistory, we can learn a lot from the design of games and then attempt to extend those learnings to the broader context of UX.
I’ve been working on a board game https://beesness.games for about a year. It’s a game about capitalist bees. You play as the CEO of a special type of business, which goal is to maximise honey profits, no matter what.
I want to share with you what I’ve learned about UX while making this game.
