FROM JUTE PLANTS TO GUNNIE SACKS | TIMELESS SACKS

Hello Production Engineering friends.
These sacks have been used since ancient times, having a long history that began in the colonial era, mainly used for packaging various goods such as grains, sugar, and coffee. sacks made of jute fiber and known as jute sacks are known for their strong durability and flexibility. Jute sacks are an ideal choice for transporting heavy goods and protecting their contents from damage during transportation. The use of jute sacks extends to the industrial and agricultural sectors, where this material is used to store products such as rice, wheat, and building materials.
Jute sacks remain popular today because of their durable, environmentally friendly, and easily recycled properties. Natural jute fibers do not require heavy chemical processes, making them better for the environment than synthetic materials. In addition, the main advantage of jute sacks is their breathability, which allows air flow to the stored product. This ability in the storage and distribution of coffee plays an important role in improving the quality of coffee. The natural fibers in these sacks allow good air flow, so that the coffee beans can "breathe" and avoid excess moisture that can cause mold or quality degradation. Interestingly, several major coffee bean importers admit that storing in burlap sacks can also reduce the acidity of the coffee beans, providing a smoother and more balanced taste to the brew. This makes burlap sacks the primary choice for packaging high-quality coffee beans exported to the international market.
The agricultural industry and commodity trade still heavily rely on burlap sacks to package agricultural products such as potatoes, coffee, and rice. The raw material for burlap sacks comes from the fiber of the Corchorus plant, commonly known as jute or ramie. India and Bangladesh are the two largest producers of burlap sacks in the world, with Bangladesh known as the main center of jute production.
In this video, production engineering will invite you to see the stages of the burlap sack making process in Bangladesh.
