Bokeh shape
Out of focus light sources (Bokeh) are shaped like the lens aperture, not the shape of the light source. As the image is focused, the true shape of the light source is revealed.
In this case, a crescent shape like the moon or Venus. But this particular crescent is simply a hole cut in a black piece of paper with a light bulb behind it.
