A LUT (Lookup Table) is essentially the modifier between two images, the original image and the displayed image, based on a mathematical formula. There are two types of LUTs, Camera LUTs and Creative LUTs. Camera LUTs are usually released by the camera manufacturer to color correct footage shot in Log Profile. Creative LUTs are more for color grading and are used to apply a specific look to your image. In this video, we'll focus on creative LUTs, and use FCPX's Custom LUT Effect to apply them to your footage. Included, is a completely FREE 8 Pack LUT download, for demo purposes.
