Согласно древним преданиям, ши-тцу – это огромный лев, заключенный в теле маленькой собачки. Считается, что в путешествиях Будду сопровождал четвероногий друг крошечных размеров, который в случае опасности превращался в льва и защищал хозяина. В Тибете верили, что это была именно ши-тцу и поэтому глубоко почитали этих животных. И хотя это только миф, «собаки-львы» действительно уникальны. Ши-тцу известны своими веселыми, радостным темпераментом. Они оживленные и дружелюбные. Ши-тцу, как правило, хорошо ладят с людьми всех возрастов и с другими собаками, а также с другими домашними животными разных видов. Shih Tzus generally get along well with people of all ages and with other dogs, as well as other pets of various species. Meeting an angry Shih Tzu is very rare, most of them are very sweet.
