Alexandre Blanc
A visit with French designer Alexandre Blanc in his Paris apartment. We spoke about his masters who helped him define his own aesthetic over cakes, chocolates and green tea.
"Working with the volume of garments, I want to suggest a certain silhouette but mostly define a particular woman. I’m not interested in trends but prefer the idea of painting the portrait of a woman season after season, adding layers.
"Quality is really important: at a time when sustainable development is hopefully not only a marketing concept, I consider that working harder on quality is necessary to create garments that you won’t throw away after a season.
We don’t need any more endless collections with too many items.
Using good, noble material suits me better than recycling fabrics, I believe in “less is more”, “less but good”, and better be local." said Alexandre Blanc
