#4 – Setting up Prisma and Supabase
NextJS Crash Course: Build a Movie Management App
In this video, we'll be setting up Prisma and Supabase, two powerful tools for building and managing databases in your NextJS applications.
We'll start by installing Prisma, a modern database toolkit that makes it easy to work with databases in your app. We'll create a Prisma client instance, which we'll use to interact with our database later on.
Next, we'll create a free PostgreSQL database on Supabase, a cloud-based service that provides a simple and secure way to store and manage data. We'll walk through the process of setting up our database, creating tables, and populating them with some sample data.
Finally, we'll link our newly created PostgreSQL database with our Prisma client. This will enable us to seamlessly work with our database from within our NextJS application.
