First Port Call For Newest U.S. Containership Terminal - Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal | Life At Sea
The Hugh K. Leatherman is the newest containership terminal in the United States and the first one built since 2009. It is located on the Cooper River in Charleston, SC and operated by the South Carolina Port Authority (SCPA). Today, April 9th 2021, the Yorktown Express was the first ship to call the port. This port can handle the largest containerships on the East Coast up to 20,000 TEUs.
