YVES CHIRON'S CONFERENCE AT THE 2023 ROSARY PILGRIMAGE

Marie-Dominique Peyramale [1811-1877] is a key figure in the history of Lourdes. This strong-willed priest from the Pyrenees was appointed parish priest of Lourdes in December 1854. Faced with the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1858, he was initially skeptical but gradually became convinced of the young girl's sincerity and the authenticity of the events. From then on, he dedicated himself to defending and protecting Bernadette. After the apparitions ceased, he served on the commission of inquiry, organized the first pilgrimages, and was responsible for building the first sanctuary. He also cared for Bernadette and her family.
Yves Chiron is a French historian, journalist, and essayist. He holds a Master's degree in the history of religions. He has notably published several biographies of popes. Her latest book, Marie-Dominique Peyramale. The priest of Lourdes, was published by Éditions du Cerf.
