Over Is Over - new phase
The next phase of the "Over is Over" campaign challenges the dangerous myth that driving just a few kilometers over the speed limit is safe.
Despite decades of progress in road safety—like mandatory seatbelt use, stricter drink-driving laws, and bans on phone use while driving—speeding remains a significant problem. Every year, about 300 people are killed or seriously injured on Tasmanian roads, with speeding a major factor in many crashes.
New mobile traffic cameras have been introduced over the past few years to catch speeding, illegal phone use, and seatbelt violations. These advancements, along with police efforts, are key to reducing road trauma and saving lives.
