I get DMs from time to time of people questioning whether they are smart enough to code! I’m here to tell you, that you definitely are!! You don’t need to be a genius and no one is born knowing how to do this.
Coming from a person who doubted herself, know that hard work will take you so far and that even though it can be hard, it’s a journey and small steps every day can take you where you want to go! #progressoverperfection
Some tips for people new to coding:
1. On days you don’t want to code, set a timer and try to code for just 25 minutes. This can help you to get started.
2. If you’re scared to start, try and find a friend that is also interested in learning so you can have a coding buddy!
3. Start the # 100daysofcode challenge as a way to stay consistent and share your learnings with others
4. If you don’t know what language to start out with, try out python! It’s a popular language so there are a lot of resources, jobs are hiring for python developers, and the syntax (spelling and grammar) makes it a great first language for beginners!
