a "no talk" video (only real italian gestures) done with the aim to show how I boost sometimes my lofi melodic samples (and drums too) with the Microcosm by Hologram, to give my lofi beats a deeper flavour.
Here some info about the setup and what you'll se in the video.

SETUP:
1) I took some piano samples from a 1€ jazz vinyl, and build an 8 bar loop (76bpm) on the MPCLive2;
2) the track with the piano samples goes (on a separate output) on the Microcosm, then comes back into the MPC on line in 3&4;
3) Microcosm is midi controlled by the MPC;
4) the MPC master out goes into the SP404og line in;
5) Drum pattern has been done on the MPC, and resampled on a pad of the SP404og;
6) an overall vinyl sim fx is applied on the SP404og out;
7) Last but not least, the FX I used on the Microcosm is the ARP Preset 3 in the GLITCH section.

WHAT YOU'LL SE IN THE VIDEO:
In this video, I'll first play the loop with the original samples taken from vinyl.
I will then add the Microcosm and play around with its control (quite randomly) to show you (and myself too!!) how the different parameters effects the sound of the sample. In the the first part, the samples is mixed with the Microcosm fx, then I switch off the volume of the sample and what you'll hear is the realtime fx applied by the Microcosm to the sample.
Finally, the funniest part: adding a drum loop and play around with the Microcosm on the melodic samples to find the sweet spot!

If you got additional questions, just let me know in the comments! :-)

Cheers!
