In this video, I'll discuss the main points in William Chan and colleagues' paper "Listen, attend and spell: A neural network for large vocabulary conversational speech recognition"
This paper introduces an end-to-end model for speech recognition which used attention mechanism as well.
The proposed model is an important milestone in speech recognition, and can directly transcribe acoustic signals to characters without using any of the traditional elements of a speech recognition system, such as HMMs, language models, or pronunciation dictionaries.
