Learn how to create a collectible power-up system in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints and delay nodes to add temporary player abilities.

Project Looking Glass – Episode 5 is live!

In Episode 5 of Project Looking Glass, we dive into creating a collectible power-up system in Unreal Engine 5. Using Blueprints, we’ll set up collectible items that grant the player temporary abilities, powered by delay nodes to control duration and cooldowns.

By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know how to:

🔹 Build a reusable collectible power-up actor
🔹 Use Blueprint logic to add and remove temporary abilities
🔹 Implement delay nodes to control ability duration
🔹 Expand your game with flexible power-up mechanics

This episode is all about giving your player new tools and making gameplay more dynamic.

If you’re following along with the series, this builds directly on previous systems like player interaction and collectables — tying everything together for a stronger gameplay loop.

Next Episode: We’ll be adding new collectable powerups, including a double jump and a Dash.
