WHITE CURTAIN IN AMSTERDAM SLOTEN:
I like to take pictures of our public space environment which is under construction. Often you see odd contradictions, which are almost poetic. In Amsterdam Sloten this caught my eye. After work hours when all the machines are quiet and the space is left alone.
I felt a strange contrast between the raw under construction skyline of buildings softened with transparent virgin white curtains. Like the buildings are the bride going into a marirage. To give new life to the buildings and a beginning for a new environment. The raw buildings, like an open skelet, get a certain virginity. Transparency of soft and technical tools in the back blured by the curtains makes it almost look not that bad at all. It seems someone thought this would give you a better view. Now you would enjoy the under construction space much better. A weird contrast between peace silence and construction noise. In my opnion the curtains is a bad concept, that's so ugly that it almost becomes an art installation. Into the direction of wrapping up public space. Just to inspire, nothing more.
