Anwar Sadat’s First Arab President to Visit Israel – 1977
In 1977, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat made a historic and unprecedented visit to Israel, becoming the first Arab leader to do so. Upon his arrival, he was received by Israeli leaders including Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Moshe Dayan, and President Ephraim Katzir.
This remarkable moment marked a turning point in Middle Eastern history and helped pave the way for the Camp David Accords in 1978 and the Egypt–Israel Peace Treaty in 1979, the first peace agreement between Israel and an Arab nation.
