InDesign 2021: Detect damaged documents and recover InDesign 2021 files & more, via Markzware's DTP File Recovery Service, as explained in this video.
InDesign now has a "Detect damaged documents and recover” feature, of sorts. So does Markzware, but it’s different. Let me, David Dilling, explain, on behalf of Markzware. I fix bad DTP or desktop publishing documents, for those with crashing or non-opening files. InDesign 2021 can perhaps detect damaged documents and recover, but Markzware has the successful track record, to recover InDesign files!
During the recent AdobeMAX 2020, a lot of new products, features, and functions were announced for and around Creative Cloud. In Adobe InDesign 2021, one new feature is a server-based service to try to detect and, they claim, even to fix bad or corrupted layouts. Adobe calls the feature, "Detect damaged documents and recover" and it is categorized under the “Recovery and Undo” section on Adobe's website.
“You can save time in troubleshooting the damaged documents. InDesign detects the damaged documents and try (sic) to repair them on Adobe servers. When you open a document, if the document is damaged, a prompt appears to choose to repair the document."

It is not an InDesign feature that you can manually select. Adobe claims the feature can auto-detect when a file is bad or corrupt. That is logical, for these bad files would, earlier, give you an error code 4, error code 5, or etc., and not open. So, Adobe appears, at least, to be giving hope (false hope?) to graphic designers and DTP operators.
The problem is, InDesign's "recover damaged document" part is not working. Well, it hasn’t fully recovered corrupt InDesign files, for me, anyway.
