Do you need programming to be a data scientist?
You might in some vases get by as a citizen data scientist with drag and drop model building tools, and some jobs may require you to go very deep into a models code (especially if you go in research). However for most scenarios some python/R is needed and some software engineering mentality but I’d say it’s not as heavy as for a “regular” programmer.
