We have a soil moisture sensor that waters automatically when the humidity is below 700. We also have a float-type water tank level sensor and a DHT11 sensor to measure humidity and air temperature.
The LCD is turned on and off with a digital microswitch. There's also a button for manual watering. Watering is done through a relay to a water pump. The conditions are as follows:
1. Low water level. Displays temp/humidity and soil moisture. Gives a warning to refill the tank. LCD on/off.
1.1 Pump active. Displays temp/humidity and soil moisture. Gives another warning: Watering cannot be done, refill the tank. LCD on/off.
2. Water level OK. Displays temp/humidity and soil moisture. Gives a warning: Level OK. LCD on/off
2.1 Soil moisture OK. Displays temp/hum and soil moisture. LCD on/off
2.1.1 Pump active. Watering begins
2.2 Soil moisture NOT OK. Displays temp/hum and soil moisture. Automatic watering begins. LCD on/off
2.2.2 Pump active. Displays a warning; manual watering cannot be activated. Automatic watering is active.
