QT#69 - Power BI Line Chart Data Label Conditional Formatting + Neat Dynamic Y-Axis Trick
Learn how to get the most out of Power BI data label conditional formatting for line charts.
In this video, I'll take you through the steps of setting up conditional formatting of data label colours. The colour of the data label will change depending on whether the data point is above or below a given threshold.
In this example, I'll use DAX code in a measure to build the conditional formatting rules. However, they can also be defined using the Power BI conditional formatting rule builder.
I'll then explain a neat workaround for making sure that the data labels at low and high points on your line graph don't get covered by the solid line. If the data points are obstructed by the line graph line it makes it hard to see the value.
If it's one of the values you've applied the conditional formatting to and you want it to stand out, not be harder to see. Plus values at the bottom and top of the charts are those that are more likely to be under or over a given limit or threshold so are probably the values you want to view.
