In this video, I explained how to install Jenkins on Windows step by step in Telugu. During the Jenkins setup, I faced a common issue where Jenkins was unable to start because the default port 8080 was already occupied.

I explained how to identify which process is using the port and how to resolve the issue using Windows commands.

Commands Used:

1️⃣ Check which process is running on Jenkins port 8080:

netstat -ano | findstr :8080

Explanation:

netstat → Displays active network connections and ports
-a → Shows all active connections and listening ports
-n → Shows addresses and port numbers in numeric format
-o → Displays the Process ID (PID) using the port
findstr :8080 → Filters and shows only the process using port 8080

This command helps us find the PID that is blocking Jenkins from using port 8080.

Example Output:
TCP 0.0.0.0:8080 LISTENING 5276

Here, 5276 is the PID of the process using port 8080.

2️⃣ Stop the process using port 8080:

taskkill /PID 5276 /F

Explanation:

taskkill → Terminates a running process
/PID → Specifies the process ID to stop
5276 → PID identified from the previous command
/F → Forcefully terminates the process

After stopping the process, Jenkins can start successfully on port 8080.
