This is one of the most unusual abandoned places in Russia!

A couple of days ago we arrived in Dagestan and settled in Kaspiysk, a town near Makhachkala

It turned out that an interesting object is located here 3 kilometers from the coast - an abandoned workshop No. 8 of the Dagdiesel plant.

From 1938 to 1966, underwater weapons were tested here. The official name of the workshop is "Testing and Assembly Station for Heavy Duty Products"

Then the shop stopped working. The requirements for underwater weapons have changed: the depth of 13 meters to the bottom was already enough. Valuable equipment was taken away, and the workshop building still stands

Interesting facts about workshop number 8:

🔸The main task of the workshop was to check torpedoes: will they fly as planned on paper? Torpedoes were produced on the coast, brought here and launched into the sea. Then found at the bottom, disassembled, dried and reassembled

🔸 During storms, communication with the shore was interrupted. Once people lived at the plant for more than two months without getting out. In this case, the workshop was well equipped, a cable went to it along the bottom of the sea

🔸 Only once there was an emergency here. In 1954, a torpedo hit a Caspian beach. No harm done

🔸 During the Great Patriotic War, the plant increased production. As a result, more than half of all torpedoes used by the USSR were produced at Dagdiesel. In 1943, the plant was evacuated to Kazakhstan

🔸For a long time there were myths about the nickname "Tamara" at the shop (by the name of the boss), and also that biological weapons were produced here

🔸The base of the abandoned workshop was damaged by ice after the rise of the Caspian Sea. They also fired at the workshop during the testing of ekranoplans. From the explosions, a fire raged here for several days, destroying everything that remained inside. After the shelling, water began to get here. The shop began to collapse faster

🔸 Even under the USSR, an unknown private person wanted to buy a workshop to make an entertainment complex here. The plant agreed, but the KGB did not allow

🔸In 2016, the workshop was examined by a commission. She declared its ground part unsuitable for use as an observation post for border guards. But the underground part is 100% usable😮
