Hidden Gem: SOF - Something Worth Remembering
East Tyrolean singer-songwriter Souph has released her debut album, Something Worth Remembering, and I'd like to introduce you to this special work today. I was inspired by my colleague from Pandroidmusic, and therefore, instead of a traditional review, I'm offering an honest recommendation – without any payment or sponsorship. I purchased the album myself as a digital download, since the vinyl version won't be released for another week or two.
Souph weaves tranquil, acoustic sounds into her songs, perfectly suited to autumn. The music is deeply rooted in jazz and soul, with a minimalist accompaniment of subtle drums, gentle strings, and a jazzy saxophone that particularly shines in "get high." Her voice reminds me of Nick Drake and simultaneously surprises with its understated, quiet intensity.
After a year and a half of work on 14 wonderful tracks, I'm sure we'll be hearing much more from Souph in the future. Until then, let Something Worth Remembering transport you to the autumnal mood.
