Bifur is one of the thirteen dwarves of Thorin Oakenshield's company, ventured forth from the Blue Mountains to reclaim Erebor from the dragon Smaug. Notable among his kin for the orc axe blade lodged in his skull, Bifur was beset by a unique ailment that twisted his speech into the ancient tongue of Khuzdul, making him incomprehensible to those not versed in the deep language of the dwarves.

After the Battle of the Five Armies, Bifur along with the surviving members of the company found solace and a new beginning in the Lonely Mountain. Under the reign of Dain Ironfoot, Bifur spent his days in the thriving halls of Erebor. The mountain once again rang with the sounds of dwarven hammers and songs of prosperity, as Bifur lived out his days enjoying the peace and wealth that had been so dearly won.
