The Pilot Who Stole A Secret Russian Fighter Plane
Viktor Belenko was a pilot for the Soviet air force. In 1976, he flew his plane to the Hakodate Civilian Airport in Japan. His landing in an American allied country shocked the world and the soviet union. When he was arrested, he requested political asylum in the US. Later on, he was sent to the US, and the plane was returned to the USSR. But, when the Soviet engineers analyzed the plane, it was missing some essential electronics. They assumed that the Americans had copied the plane's technology, and had tested the plane.
