“Ubisoft+ game subscription service officially launches on Xbox. It’s been a long time coming, as it was first announced more than a year ago, but Ubisoft’s premium subscription service has finally arrived on Xbox consoles. Ubisoft+ gives players instant access to a large portion of the company's library, and heavy hitters like Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Immortals Fenyx Rising are all in attendance. Ubisoft says subscribers will get day-one access to new releases moving forward. Ubisoft+ has multiple tiers, and it's making the premium option, called Ubisoft+ Multi Access, available to Xbox owners. Once you subscribe, you can play on any platform that offers support. For instance, users can swap back and forth between the Xbox and PC without losing a save state. The service is also available for Amazon Luna, but PlayStation consoles are still out in the cold, though it is coming at some point. If you have a Sony console, you can sign up for a bare-bones version of the service called Ubisoft+ Classics.”

“Xbox Gamer Wins Game Pass for Life, Declines The Prize. One lucky gamer recently won 40 years of free Xbox Game Pass, but turned it down for a surprisingly understandable reason. Xbox Game Pass is a monthly subscription service that offers users unlimited access to a vast library of Xbox games for a small fee, along with occasional additional services like Funimation or Disney Plus. Every month, new games are added to the Xbox Game Pass library, and some titles are brought to the service as soon as they release. Earlier this week, a Reddit user by the handle of Elvite won the Microsoft Rewards Xbox Game Pass Lifetime Membership prize, as reported by Pure Xbox. However, they were ultimately forced to turn it down due to tax reasons. In a post on r/MicrosoftRewards, Elvite explained that had they accepted the prize, they would have $7,300 of added taxable income to their 2023 taxes, which would have required them to pay about $1,752 more on their federal tax bill on top of state income tax.”

"Microsoft’s new Xbox Home UI is getting reworked after complaints over ‘crowded’ backgrounds. Microsoft started testing a new Xbox Home UI last year that will be released in 2023, but fans haven’t been impressed with the aging tiled interface that does nothing to show off the dynamic backgrounds and wallpapers available on the console. The new Xbox Home UI started to feel like a giant Xbox Game Pass ad, and now Microsoft is acknowledging that it feels a little crowded. “We heard from you that the changes to the top of Home did not leave enough space for you to enjoy your backgrounds and that it felt crowded,” says Ivy Krislov, senior product manager lead of Xbox experiences, in a blog post today. “We’re working to balance the experience, accessibility, function, and the needs of our community and bring you a great and refreshed Home experience.”
