From Idea to Impact: Reinventing Evacuations with Technology | The Dream Machine Ep 7
What does it really take to transform your life—and then build a business around a life-saving purpose?
In this episode of The Dream Machine, hosts Mark Chen and Ravijeet Dang sit down with Dr. Rashid Khan, an emergency management specialist and the founder of an innovative evacuation tracking platform designed to bridge the deadly communication gaps in high-stakes environments.
Dr. Rashid shares his journey from moving to Australia as a database administrator and running a Malaysian restaurant, to the pivotal moment witnessing the Bourke Street incident that redefined his professional mission. This is more than just a tech story; it’s a deep dive into the "training ground" of small business, the discipline required to learn coding from scratch, and the unwavering faith needed to pivot a startup during a global pandemic.
It’s an insightful discussion about turning childhood incident into meaningful innovation and discovering how a clear "why" can sustain you through the most uncertain times.
