About Kali Linux:
Kali Linux is based on the Debian Testing branch. Most packages Kali uses are imported from the Debian repositories.It is maintained and funded by Offensive Security.
Kali Linux 2021.2 release is now available for immediate download. Kali Linux is an Advanced Penetration Testing Linux distribution suited for Ethical hacking, Penetration Testing, and network security assessments among other security related operations. This Linux distribution has evolved from its initial release, to being a rolling release Linux distribution that can be used for general computing purposes.
Kali Linux has around 600 pre-installed penetration-testing programs (tools), including Armitage (a graphical cyber attack management tool), Nmap (a port scanner), Wireshark (a packet analyzer), metasploit (penetration testing framework, awarded as the best penetration testing software), John the Ripper (a password cracker), sqlmap (automatic SQL injection and database takeover tool), Aircrack-ng (a software suite for penetration-testing wireless LANs), Burp suite and OWASP ZAP web application security scanners.
It is a great library of penetration testing tools, probably the best a person can find. It is updated almost daily with the latest tool versions, and comes in multiple "versions" one with only the most necessary tools, and others with hundreds. It has a very graphical interface if you want one, and a non graphical interface as well, which is an essential for any Linux based distribution. It is also extremely stable. One downside is that it definitely isn't for casual users (being a library of penetration testing tools in an OS) but, then again, it isn't supposed to be.
Kali Linux 2021.3 Hardware Requirements
Kali Linux requires:
A minimum of 20GB hard disk space for installation depending on the version, Version 2020.3 requires at least 20GB.
A minimum of 2GB RAM for i386 and AMD64 architectures.
A bootable CD-DVD drive or a USB stick.
A minimum of an Intel Core i3 or an AMD E1 processor for good performance.
The recommended hardware specification for a smooth experience are:
50 GB of hard disk space, SSD preferred
At least 4 GB of RAM
