Joined with host and co-host Ben Mendez & Javier Perez, the three discussed politics including the immigration bans executed by President Donald Trump and how the relationship with his presidency has affected his businesses. Juan spoke about his previous shows with other comedians including – George Lopez, Gabriel Iglesias “Fluffy”, & Paul Rodriguez. Later in the show, three women from the program known as DiscoverU talked about its benefits and what the program meant for them.
Giving an overview as to what the program is all about, Monica Pinquet-Rodriguez (DiscoverU Co-Founder/Board Member) discussed how DiscoverU’s program offers learning opportunities for leadership and academic development by partnering students with the necessary tools. The program has allowed students to travel to other cities, states, and even countries around the world to give back and experience limitless opportunities to resources.
One student from Sharpstown High School, Mirna Madrid (DiscoverU FLO participant), shared her own experience with the program and how the hands-on involvement in the science labs at Texas A&M gave her the opportunity to grow and learn. Also on the DiscoverU board with Monica, Veronica Martinez (DiscoverU Luncheon Co-Chair) gave great information regarding the DiscoverU luncheon happening at the Junior League of Houston on February 28th.
