They each have Miraculouses, jewels attached to magical Kwamis that give them their powers. While living their high school lives and keeping their identities secret, they protect Hawk Moth, who wants to steal their Miraculouses, from harming the city by creating more dangerous supervillains. At school, Marinette has a crush on Adrien, but she can't tell him, so she acts strangely around him. Cat Noir, a superhero, loves Ladybug, but his ego gets in her way: Marinette still prefers Adrien! Throughout the school year and their adventures, Ladybug discovers many good qualities in Cat Noir, while Marinette grows closer to Adrien and makes great efforts to overcome her shyness.
