I'm testing a Masamune knife with technology that's similar to the CRKT Veff serrated blade.

Have you ever looked at those huge, angled serrations and wondered if they're just for show or if they actually cut? In today's video, we put Tom Veff's design to the test in the most realistic test possible: pork.

Why is the Veff design different?

Unlike the small serrations on bread knives that tear the fiber, the Veff-style serration works with specific angles. This creates an aggressive cutting action that doesn't "chew" the meat, but rather slices it deeply.

What we noticed in the test:

Skin and Fat: The blade bites instantly, without slipping.

Muscle: The wide spacing prevents fibers from getting caught, maintaining the fluidity of the cut.

Cleaning: Unlike standard serrations, the Veff is much easier to clean after heavy use.

Verdict: If you're looking for a knife for hunting or tactical situations where cutting fibrous materials is a constant task, the Veff isn't just about aesthetics—it's pure performance engineering.
