I recorded a video a while back to highlight two things about the True Catalyst Pro skates, as well as to further demonstrate their design. Yes, this is a subjective thing, but for me, these are some of the most beautiful skates on the market! 😏
1. The first thing is the protective film that comes with the Pro version from the factory, covering the composite shell. It's a great idea and will do a great job of preserving the boot's glossy finish. I think True skate owners could take note of this option and install similar films after purchasing them.
2. In previous videos, I mentioned that the Catalyst Pro boot has additional foam padding in the toe area, which, when trying on the skate in my size, didn't allow me to fit comfortably. I'll show you what they look like in the video. After I peeled them off, the standard foam layer remained inside the toe (like in the CAT9 and CAT7), and I was able to get comfortable in them without any problems, getting the familiar feel of the CAT9.
The problem is that in my size 9.5R, the new True skate fits as if it were too small, but after molding, the foam compresses and continues to settle over time. Ultimately, I wouldn't rule out trying to reinstall these foam inserts over time, making the fit even tighter and eliminating the negative space. When the skates were new, with the additional inserts, I couldn't even fully straighten my toes.
P.S. The Pro model comes with Shift Max DLC blades, of course, but I've been breaking in TSP Classic blades on the True skates for quite some time now.
