How to Implement Google Analytics 4 🧐
1. Plugin/settings in cms platform implementation
If you want to implement it by plugin you will need to be sure that it is supporting GA4 and if yes, just copy Measurement ID and paste it in the required field of the plugin settings.
2. Code implementation
If you want to implement it by code you'll need access to your web pages HTML. Ask your web developer to perform these steps if you're unable to do this yourself.
1. Look for "Global Site Tag (gtag.js)" in the Data Stream tab. Your Analytics page tag is the entire section of code that appears, beginning with:
⟨!-- Global Site Tag (gtag.js) - Google Analytics --⟩
and ending with
⟨/script⟩
2. Copy and paste your entire Analytics page tag immediately after the ⟨head⟩ on each page of your website.
You can then use the Realtime report to verify that you're receiving data.
3. Implementation via GTM
To set up a new GA4 configuration tag in GTM:
1. On the Workspace Overview screen, click New Tag. Or from anywhere in your container, click Tags ⟩ New. A new tag definition screen will appear.
2. Click Tag Configuration and choose Google Analytics: GA4 configuration.
3. Go back to Google Analytics accounts -⟩ Admin -⟩ in the second column find Data Streams.
4. Click on the correct stream and in the popped up window find your Measurement ID.
5. Copy that and come back to the GTM account to paste it in the specific field.
6. Scroll down and Click Triggering to choose a trigger that will make the tag fire. You may select an existing pre-defined trigger - All pages.
7. In the right top corner click Save.
Do not forget to publish your current workspace!
1. Click Submit at the top right hand side of the screen. The Submit Changes screen will appear, with options to publish the container and save a version of your container.
2. Select Publish and Create Version if it is not already selected.
3. Enter a Version Name and Version Description.
4. Click Publish.
It is done! You just implemented an account Google Analytics 4 🥳
