Voice - Chapter 6
Even though our Year of the Voice ended in 2023, that does not mean the development of our voice assistant has stopped! In this chapter, we're excited to show you what we've been working on since Chapter 5 last year. Thanks to the incredible new microWakeWord (Thanks to Kevin Ahrendt), ESPHome can now perform wake word detection directly on devices like the ESP32-S3-BOX-3 (including the discontinued S3-BOX and S3-BOX-Lite). This makes the wake-word detection very fast, and no data will be sent from your voice satellite to Home Assistant until you've said the wake word.
