How to create a beautiful online store with WooCommerce
There are lots of services out there that can help you create a shop. Etsy, Big Commerce, Shopify. However, they will take a bit of a percentage and generally, they are putting you in competition with A LOT of other sellers. That’s why I always recommend to my clients to create their own shop on WordPress with a plugin called WooCommerce.
What is WooCommerce?
WooCommerce is a free plugin that can allow you to set up a shop in minutes. Simple install the plugin from the repository and go through the guided set up. You will need to connect a payment gateway such as Stripe or Paypal in order to accept payments. It is also helpful to know a little bit about how you plan to handle things such as sales tax and shipping for your products if that is required. How can I sell digital products on WooCommerce?
Once you have all your settings place, simply go to the Products tab of your dashboard and start creating products. You can create products with variables to offer them in different sizes and colors. You can create different categories and tags for your products. While these are all optional, there are a few things that you absolutely must have!
A feature product image to show just how beautiful it is. You can also add multiple photos for a gallery.
A product description including things like sizing, how it was made or how it is delivered.
The price. You can also schedule sales directly into WooCommerce.
How can I create a beautiful shop page in WordPress?
Once you have gone through the setup wizard for woo commerce, all of your required pages will have been set up for you. You do have some options with the shop page, however. You can add a sidebar that has widgets just for your shop such as a search bar, recently viewed products, most popular products, product categories, and so much more! You can also decide which products should be highlighted or featured on the shop page. When you set up different categories for your shop, you can also separate out your products on your menu bar making it even easier for your customers to find what they are looking for.
