AE Typography Tutorial / Neon Glow Flicker Text Animation - Adobe After Effects
You might see a lot of neon glow text effects. Wanna know how to do it? This video might be for you.
SHORTCUTS
T - Opacity
Alt + click on stopwatch - open the expression form
Ctrl + Shift + D - cut/split a layer into two
Alt + ] - cut the end of a layer
U - to show all the keyframes of a layer
UU - to show all the keyframes of a layer, as well as all the settings/effects that you have on that layer.
QUICK STEPS
Put "Glow" effect on your text layer.
Set the Glow Radius and Glow Intensity to your liking.
Alt + click on your Opacity stopwatch icon
Type "Wiggle(x, y)". x being the frequency, the number of flickers in a second. y being the change value of the opacity.
To flicker the letters individually, untwirl the arrow your text layer.
Go to Animate - Opacity.
Set Opacity under "Animator 1" as 0%
Under "Range Selector", Alt + click on your Offset stopwatch.
Type Wiggle (x,y) to your liking.
Cut and split the layers into three (Shift + Ctrl + D).
On the second/middle layer, delete Animator 1 and deactivate Wiggle expression on your opacity.
