Add Conky To Debian and its derivatives - Linux Mint, LMDE, etc..
Whether you install conky first or gather a collection of scripts first is your choice. I always have my .conky folder ready to go.
I use the same .conky on on all my builds, and mostly the same conky script. But I change it up every so often.
There are hundreds of conky script collections out there. mostly on github, a few on SourceForge.
For me, I downloaded MX-Linux ISO, booted it up and put a copy of the .conky folder on a USB stick.
To install conky
sudo apt install conky-all
Add conky scripts to your system
Copy .conky to the /home folder of the installation.
Copy the launch script below also to /home.
Then just start this script below:

#!/usr/bin/env bash
Save this in /home as start_conky.sh
Check permissions to see it is set to be executable.
Put this command in startup applications: sh start_conky.sh
Wait 20 seconds
sleep 20
Run conky
conky -b -c ~/.conky/MX-antiX/MX-antiX17
####################
Place this command in your autostart, or Sessions and Startup, whatever your DE calls it:
sh start_conky.sh
Of course you can use any conky script instead of .conky/MX-antiX/MX-antiX17.
Use pkill conky to remove the conky from the screen when testing several.
