In today's Davinci Resolve tutorial, I'll show you how to overlay different clips with transparency effects and how to use the Qualifier.
These techniques, in particular, open up entirely new creative possibilities – in our example, we'll place a drone shot "behind" the windows of a lost-place house.
The transparencies are created using so-called "alpha masks." But don't worry – it's super easy, because we can use the tools we're already familiar with, such as the "Windows" (similar to the graduated filters in Lightroom).
I'll also introduce you to the Qualifier, a way to select image areas by color, saturation, and/or brightness (similar to the range masks in Lightroom). These selections can then also be converted into transparency.
In this episode, you'll learn about other very powerful Davinci Resolve tools, which – once you understand them – are very simple and logical to use.
By the way: If you like the transitions I used at one point or another in this video, you can get them at zvisual.cz (100 transitions, 500 matching sound effects):

There are also instructions on how to install them directly in Davinci Resolve (free version and Studio). I was able to get a 15% discount code for the first 30 customers, which you can get by using the code GWEGNERDE when purchasing on the site.
