Components Required:
555 Timer IC
33K Resistor
2*22uF, 1*1nF Capacitors
2 Diodes (Either power/signal diodes. I used 1N4148)
Few Breadboard Connectors
Breadboard
Power Supply (5-15)V
Output Device of your choice
You can use this circuit to convert 6V to 12V, 12V to 24V, etc. and note that the maximum current this circuit can provide is 50mA. So plan your load accordingly.
Working Principle:
The first block of this DC Voltage Doubler Circuit is made up of 555 timer IC, 33K resistor and 1nF capacitor. The 555 IC is configured to function in astable mode thereby producing a continuous square wave. This square wave is fed to a capacitor charge pump circuit which multiplies the input voltage using the mechanism illustrated in the video.
