There are several types of IUS available. They are all T-shaped (the two side arms fold flat for insertion and fold up for removal) and about the length of a matchstick. The inside of the womb itself is only a little longer than a matchstick, so the IUS fits neatly inside. The IUS can be put quite easily into a woman's womb by a trained doctor or nurse.
