Let’s take a moment to address what the top player in mount would do against a skilled BJJ practitioner. If the bottom player is framing against your wrist and is attempting to stand up; then, the first thing you need to do is to circle your hand so that you counter your partner’s control of your wrist; and then, look to control your partner’s neck to further solidify the mount position.
As the bottom player, you need to expect this to happen. As your partner is trying to win back control, to need to block their arm from grabbing your neck. And then, swim your head and your arm underneath their shoulder so you can wrap your left arm around their back.
This is called the Octopus Escape. The Octopus Escape is based on winning head height. You want your head higher than their head. Post your right hand on the ground, keep your hips off the mat, and drive your left elbow to your partner’s ear. The Octopus Escape works amazingly well and is a fantastic way to escape any bottom position!
