Mark Spencer, the creator of Asterisk, shares his experience creating a sample application for Digium IP Phones using the App Engine API. You can be a part of the code release event and see Mark demo his app live at Asterisk World, a part of ITEXPO East 2014 in Miami Florida.

Asterisk is the world's most widely used open source communications platform and Digium IP phones are the world's only phones specifically designed for Asterisk and Asterisk-based phone systems. The Digium Phone App Engine is a JavaScript-based API that allows fully functional apps to run natively on the phone. Custom apps built on the API can tightly integrate with Asterisk like no other IP phone.
In this interview, Mark talks about the example application he built using the API. Mark's sample app allows users to see participants who are part of an audio conference room. The app takes advantage of unique integration with Asterisk, AMI (Asterisk Manager Interface) and DPMA (Digium Phone Module for Asterisk).
