Grinding wheels, or grinding stones, are essential tools in various industries and household tasks. Their primary function is to grind, smooth, shape, and cut various materials. There are many types of grinding wheels on the market, tailored to their specific use. These different grinding wheels differ in their abrasion levels, grit, and physical shape.
Grinding wheels were first used in Ancient Egypt and China. These tools were originally made of stone and used to sharpen weapons and tools. Their development evolved into the grinding wheel we know in the 18th century during the Industrial Revolution. At that time, steam engines began to be used to power grinding wheels, thereby increasing production and efficiency in factories.
