Special Purpose Suppressors (ft The Welrod)
Suppressor technology has come a long way over the last century, but there are still some “old school” tricks that JK Armament puts to use in new ways to bring our customers the lightest, most compact suppressors possible. We consider these to be special purpose suppressors, though our modern design means they still work well for general use.
The JK 105 CCX is a 9mm pistol suppressor designed for concealed carry. Because of its compact size it’s also great on a “truck gun” or nightstand gun. Given its incredibly small size, shooting it wet by adding a small amount of petroleum jelly inside each baffle helps to achieve the sound suppression performance you’re likely used to from a standard-sized pistol silencer.
However, with the CCX’s modern baffle design there are no negative effects to accuracy, and any type of ammunition, including self-defense hollow points, can be used. Additionally, shooting it wet is optional; the CCX still provides a helpful amount of sound suppression even when shot dry. The beneficial effects of adding petroleum jelly last for approximately one magazine’s worth of shooting (~15 rounds).
The JK 195 SGX BREACHER is a high-flow, 12 gauge shotgun suppressor designed for law enforcement and military breaching and tactical use. It’s rated for full-auto rates of fire even on short barrels, and it’s extremely compact and lightweight for a 12 GA suppressor. Like the CCX, adding petroleum jelly is optional but it maximizes the sound suppression performance from a very compact silencer. On most 12 GA setups, the benefits of the petroleum jelly last a surprisingly long time; approximately 50 rounds.
Both of JK’s special purpose suppressors, the CCX and SGX BREACHER, ship from JK Armament wet – petroleum jelly already applied. Before using either suppressor we recommend having a look inside the baffles to get an idea of how much ablative to apply and where to apply it, as well as watching the video above for a demonstration.
