Rust’s New Power Update Changes Monuments Forever
Well howdy there, survivors. Rusty Old Man here, and this upcoming Rust update looks absolutely massive.
Rust is testing a brand-new system called player maintained power, and it could completely change how monuments work across the island. The big idea is that players will need a new Heavy Fuse to power the Power Plant Monument, and once Power Plant is running, it powers the island.
That is a huge deal, because monument recyclers will now depend on power. If the island does not have power, those recyclers may not work, which means Power Plant could become one of the most important monuments in Rust.
But that is not the only change coming.

This update feels like Rust is making the island more connected, more interactive, and more dangerous. Power Plant may no longer be just another monument — it could become the heart of the map. Roads may become more valuable because of tap-in power lines. Smaller monuments may become more useful. And Launch Site may get even crazier with satellite loot.
This is still in development, so things can change before release, but what we’re seeing so far looks like one of the most interesting Rust updates in a long time.
