Over Parenting
David Block of the Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences. A satire on the parenting methods of today where parents push children at young ages. Parents of an elementary child push her to do things in preparation for college, robbing her of a chance to just be a kid.
This is one of 24 videos featured in the Images of Youth 2007 Video Festival, April 20, 2007. What especially distinguishes these films is the focus on message. All entrants were asked to demonstrate that they have been critically thinking about their subject matter and have used their skills in expressing to their audience what they feel is an important message. Unlike other national youth video festivals, emphasis on message is considered to be more important than the production skills that students demonstrate. Once again, Action for Media Education (AME) would like to thank all our entrants for participating in our festival.
