JVC RX-DP10 JVC RX-DP20 top of the line review
jvc rx-dp10 one of the best modern non hdmi receivers ever built.
When you prefer a modern 5.1 ore 7.1 setup above the classic stereo receivers this receiver have the best sound you can get. From all the modern pioneers, sony's and onkyo's I tested, this one is by far the best sounding modern receiver I had. It really sound terrific. It even come close to the sansui g series From the 70's. These receivers are in the Netherlands on the second hand market for 100 to 200 euro....For that price you have a fantastic sound in a modern jacket with all the connections in the back. The new price back in 2002 was over 2200 euro , so the second hand price is really a steal. You can go to the shop and buy a new HDMI receiver from 1000 euro but that sound will not match the sound of this receiver, it will not even come close. The only thing it miss is HDMI. But who need HDMI, I only need good sound, that's the most important thing from your sound gear. People think that HDMI is a must. Before there was HDMI we didn't need it, we even don't need it today. What I and every person need is the perfect sound. This thing give you close to perfect sound for only 200 euro! Of course you can't compare it to the vintage sound but this thing comes very close to the stereo gear from the 70's. I think in the treble and mids it will even beat some of my old stereo receivers but it miss something in the bass. The bass is too weak so you have to open your bass far above neutral. It also don't have a loudness switch. This thing have however a subwoofer connection and probably it was meant to play with one of those. The bass will be much better with a subwoofer. If you buy a receiver like this you will be very happy with the sound.
