6. "Bolshevik Gold" (47 min.)
A train, the "damned days" outside the window, a murderer and his victim reflect on the fate of revolutionary Russia. Filmed in the spirit of Soviet "westerns," the episode ultimately disregards official historicism. But on the one hand, who said that official historicism is the only true one? On the other, without artistic generalizations, it would hardly have been possible to fully unleash the talent of actor Barinov (as Gukovsky) and to showcase the unexpected Margaryan as the young Stalin. For those who couldn't discern, amid the roar of machine-gun fire, the "terrible secret" revealed by the "accountant of the Revolution," Gukovsky, we refer you to Bunich's "Party Gold" and the memoirs of Solomon (Isetsky), which clearly inspired the screenwriters.
